Meet the Team

Katy Thomas
CEO, Founder, Counsellor
I am a compassionate, resilient, empathetic, and deeply committed person who wants to listen and understand others. Having gone through my own profound loss and heartbreak and then being able to understand what I went through, I believe has enabled me to hold so much value and empathy for others.
I developed Mothers Matter having gone through my own heartbreak and overwhelming journey into motherhood – through loss, isolation and complete despair, then having to overcome the fear of becoming pregnant again after suffering so much loss.
I didn’t want any mother to feel as isolated as I was in those moments and endure so much pain alone. It was in the moment when I felt understood during my counselling degree I realised the importance of creating a safe space where mothers could be heard, valued, listened to and supported.
No mother should feel isolated in their darkest moment.
Mothers Matter was developed out of pure lived experience, a desire to bring about change and to end stigma.
