Why Wellbeing Hubs?
The Wellbeing hub was introduced after carrying out evidence sheets with our Mums, evidencing their needs. It became clear early on within our pilot that Mums were isolated and lonely. They need connectivity and an opportunity to share their unique stories with others.
This gave us the push to open up our first Wellbeing hub in Mountain Ash. The Hub is a safe place for Mums to come and meet with other Mums in their community. Here, they make friends and are listened to and supported.
They can have their say too – we place a post box within the hub with postcards to source feedback. Mums can ask for what they need anonymously if they prefer to, and we look at their comments to see what needs implementing to support their needs.
So far, we have had a number of events and workshops at our hubs. Workshops and courses have included empowerment workshops, self care courses, St Johns first aid, midwife-led infant feeding, anxiety awareness, and stress control. All of our workshops and classes are run by professionals and subject to governance checks. We have also had a sleep specialist visit and hosted events for the little ones too – musical babies and events for children.
Our wellbeing hubs are not a baby group or toddler group. They are a community for Mums – a safe and welcoming environment to share and feel supported. Our meetings help Mum remember time for themselves – a hot drink, a chat and some time for her. The hub staff help with the babies, enabling mum to enjoy this valuable time.
How your donations help Mothers Matter
We also try to offer funded places using kind donations and sponsors, so that we can reach and support more mothers and families who need us.
Please get in touch if you are an organisation or individual who would like to provide these opportunities for another member of our community.
There are lots of ways you can offer support to our cause. If you would like to help us raise funds, here are some ways you can help Mothers Matter.
